In
15th-century France, the evil archdeacon of Notre Dame is Claude
Frollo. Under his command is the deformed bellringer of Notre Dame
Cathedral, Quasimodo, who is instructed to capture the Gypsy Esmeralda,
the object of Frollo's unrequited lust. Phoebus, the man Esmeralda
loves, rescues her, but she is framed for his murder, setting the stage
