THE ALLIES
The Allies of World War II consisted primarily of Great Britain and its dominions of Canada, Australia and New Zealand, the United States, France, and the Soviet Union. World War II was won by the Allies at the enormous cost of fifty million lives and unimaginable destruction. Germany, Italy, and Japan were defeated and their fascistic and militaristic governments overthrown. Lest we forget. Remembrance Day, November 11.

ALWAYS REMEMBER
They gave their lives, made great sacrifice,
We will always remember,
We will always have a solemn ceremony,
Each and every November.
They fought for country and our way of life,
They deserve the highest praise,
Because of them our land is free,
We will remember always.

BETWEEN THE CROSSES ROW ON ROW
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

THE BLOOD OF HEROES NEVER DIES
They never questioned their call to duty,
“O Canada”, the soldier cries,
If it must be so, they’ll die for country,
The blood of heroes never dies.
Battles raged, gunfire blazed,
Bombs rained down from the skies,
Young soldiers advanced, some clinging to life,
The blood of heroes never dies.

BROTHERS IN ARMS
Brothers in arms, they fought side by side,
Some of them lived, some of them died.
Brothers in arms who fought to the death,
These brave soldiers who gave their last breath,
For their country and freedom they gave blood, tears, and sweat,
This Remembrance Day and always, we will never forget.

D-DAY JUNO BEACH
During the Normandy invasion on June 6, 1944, Canadian forces assaulted Juno Beach as part of Operation Overlord. About 14,000 Canadian soldiers landed on the beach, backed by 10,000 sailors aboard 110–124 Royal Canadian Navy vessels, plus Royal Canadian Air Force squadrons. Despite heavy concrete bunkers, mines, and machine-gun fire, Canadian troops advanced further inland on D-Day than any other Allied force. Canada suffered 1,074 total casualties on June 6, including roughly 359 to 381 soldiers killed.

DREAMS OF GLORY
They went with songs to the battle,
They were young, straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow,
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

ECHOES OF VALOUR
Bullets were flying, bombs were dropping,
The world became a blur,
But these young men fought the good fight,
These are echoes of valour.
Some came home, many did not,
That’s the way things were,
They sacrificed much for our freedom today,
These are echoes of valour.

FALLEN HEROES
These fallen heroes who paid a great price,
They gave their lives, the ultimate sacrifice.
They fought, lived and died to keep us all free,
To these fallen heroes, we give thanks to thee.
We will always remember, we will never forget
The fallen heroes to whom we owe a great debt.
Every year we will honour them and show our respect,
The memory of our fallen heroes we will never neglect.

FALLEN IN THE CAUSE OF THE FREE
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
We mourn for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

FEAR NOT THAT YE HAVE DIED FOR NAUGHT
They went to the battle with bravery and courage,
Accepting that it was their lot,
We must never forget their great sacrifice,
Fear not that ye have died for naught.
These unsung heroes gave their lives,
With such valor and nary a thought,
For themselves, but rather of country and kin,
Fear not that ye have died for naught.

FIELD OF REMEMBRANCE
War was upon us, we had no choice,
The only option was entrance
Into a war, let’s never forget,
Here in the field of remembrance.
Brave young men gave their lives,
They sacrificed in every way,
Now let’s walk through the field of remembrance,
Lest we forget on Remembrance Day.

FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE
In our darkest hour, young men went to war
To defend our democracy,
Many paid the ultimate price,
Freedom is never free.
Knowing they might never return they went,
Of their own free will, you see,
They fought to defend our dear Canada,
But freedom is never free.

THE GUNS WILL BE SILENT ON REMEMBRANCE DAY
One day soon, I don't know when
You know we'll all be free and the bells of peace will ring again.
The guns will be silent on Remembrance Day,
We'll all say a prayer on Remembrance Day.
The guns will be silent, there'll be no more fighting,
Oh, we'll lay down our weapons
On Remembrance Day.

HIGHWAY OF HEROES
A fallen soldier has given his all,
Battling many foes,
Now he makes his final journey,
Along the Highway of Heroes.
We will never forget his sacrifice,
Nor the debt each of us owes,
To remember he died for freedom,
As he travels the Highway of Heroes.

IN FLANDERS FIELDS THE POPPIES BLOW
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

IN PEACE MAY THEY REST
Take two minutes, would you mind?
It's a pittance of time
For the boys and the girls who went over,
In peace may they rest,
Lest we forget why they died,
It's a pittance of time.

LAST POST
When the clock strikes 11 and thousands stand in silence, notes from a lone bugle ring out through the air. It’s a very touching, very solemn moment on the morning's Remembrance Day service. As the somber bugle call is played, we are reminded that our veterans gave their lives for our country and freedom. We must never forget as we listen to the Last Post.

LEST WE FORGET
They were young, straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow,
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

We will remember them.

NEVER FORGET
They made the ultimate sacrifice,
We owe them an eternal debt,
On November 11th and every day,
We must never forget.

Their blood, tears, and sweat,
They gave their all, these brave young men,
We must never forget.

NOW UP TO HEAVEN'S DOORWAY
They went to battle, these brave young men,
To face the foe, come what may,
Some made the ultimate sacrifice,
Now up to Heaven's Doorway.
Into the war they marched against all odds,
Their resolve never did sway,
We will always remember, and never forget,
Now up to Heaven's Doorway.

OUR GRATITUDE NEVER SLEEPS
Such brave young men who risked their lives,
They knew the stakes were for keeps,
Yet nevertheless, they fought and fell,
Our gratititude never sleeps.
They took up the quarrel with the foe,
For every fallen someone weeps,
From failing hands they took the torch,
Our gratititude never sleeps.

PASSION, SACRIFICE, FREEDOM
History has taught us over and over again that freedom is not free. When push comes to shove, the ultimate protectors of freedom and liberty are the brave men and women in our armed forces. Throughout our history, they've answered the call in bravery, passion, and sacrifice.

THE PRICE OF FREEDOM
November 11th, Remembrance Day,
Look at their eyes and see,
The boys that were, the men they are.
They fought so we’d be free.
One day a year they come as one,
Soldiers standing side by side,
To remember a past they can’t forget,
To remember those who died.
Do not begrudge two minutes,
For they’ve given all their lives.
And those who died? Their legacy?
Their daughters, sons and wives.

REMEMBER THE FALLEN
Let us remember the fallen
May the youth heed the advice,
We must remember the fallen
And their great sacrifice.
May we hold our freedom dear,
May we never forget
The brave souls, the fallen,
To whom we owe a great debt.

They paid the ultimate price,

On November 11th we will commemorate them,
Remember the sacrifice.

SAY A PRAYER ON REMEMBRANCE DAY
Silent now the soldiers sleep, their tales long laid to rest.
I knew them not yet still I weep and place a poppy o'er my breast.
Courageously they stood their ground but freedom carries a cost.
Thousands of men were wounded and countless lives were lost.
So in gratitude of silence and all those who have served,
Sleep now, you have earned it, your peace is well deserved.

TEARS OF REMEMBRANCE
Young men made the sacrifice,
They fought for freedom and made a stance,
We must never forget such bravery,
As we shed tears of remembrance.
Some lived, some fell on the battlefield,
As they were ordered to advance,
Each November 11, lest we forget,
As we shed tears of remembrance.

THEY FELL WITH THEIR FACES TO THE FOE
They went to battle, so young and brave,
Little did they know,
That some would never go home again,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
Now the old veterans remember the days
Of great sorrow and woe,
Of ultimate sacrifice we must never forget,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
