PASSING THE TORCH
For
the old guard, time passes too quickly, and one day the veterans know
that it’s time to pass the torch to the young. With them lies the
future. The old school, however, has wisdom and valuable experience
that they can pass on if the young wish to listen. In the long history
of our men and women in red, the early and current protectors of our
great country, they’ve listened and learned. Happy Canada Day to them

PROTECTOR OF THE TRUE NORTH
In
1873 the government of Canada created a Department of the Interior and
a national police force called the North-West Mounted Police. The
purpose was to establish law and order in the great North-West before
the settlers came, ensuring an atmosphere of collective responsibility
for justice. They adopted a French motto, "Maintiens le droit" “Defend
the Law” (literal – maintain the right). These brave men were and
continue to be the protectors of the true North, strong and free.
